I lied, I have to post this before I leave town.

My friends Tara and Steve had a baby boy a few weeks ago and Chloe and I finally made it over to their house to see him since he was born. Oh man, he is SO CUTE!! He was so good, we just held him and he made funny faces and didn't make a sound. Just looked around at us and stared at us intently.

Signing off for a couple of weeks!

I realized I have been so busy recently with Christmas and husband and I's ski trip around the corner and this part-time job they call marathon training that my blog has been neglected. I have decided to just not worry about updating it for a couple of weeks. I still have a few Christmas gifts to get, not many. We are packing for our trip this weekend. We need to wrap all of the presents this weekend too. Just so much to do and such little time. But I am going to "live in the moment" as Phil from biggest loser told Vicky. I need to enjoy each moment. The packing, the wraping gifts with my kids, the last minute shopping, the running and so on. Enjoy each thing and take it all in b/c as we know EVERYTHING goes by too fast.

I am running 14 miles this Saturday with my friend Jessica. Not even dreading it since I will have company. Then it is laundry, packing and wrapping. FUN TIMES!!

I wish all of you a very Merry and blessed Chrismtas. LIVE IN THE MOMENT!!! I will see all of you after the new year.

This and that

Oh my how time flies. It is the week before Christmas. As always so much last minute stuff to do. I have my list and hope to get it all done by Monday.

My 14 miler this past weekend was cut a tad short to 12.5. It went o.k. Could have been better but I guess 12.5 miles is nothing to sneeze at. I should just be happy with it and go with it.

I am off to a great start this week though with a 4 miler done this morning before work. I have 2 more 4 milers to do then a 14 miler that I will do with Jessica this weekend.

Tonight is the BIGGET LOSER FINALE and I can't wait!! I only watch 2 show religiously and this is one of them. The other is Desperate Housewives. BL starts at 7. I will probably eat dinner, get the girls to bed and then start watching it around 8:30. I can't wait! I am pulling for Michelle. GO MICHELLE GO!! Kick the rest of the whiny hateful booties that are on the show.

14 miles on Saturday

I am getting geared up for my longest distance so far of 14 miles that I will do on Saturday. Between the two people that I am running the marathon with, Jess and Corinne, we decided to shoot for a 13 minute mile so that is what I will do this lon training run at. So it will take about 3 hours. It does seem like forever sometimes but I just have to do it. It just comes a long with the training. Once it is over with I will be beyond proud of myself and just so happy so I know it will be worth it. When you are just thinking about it though it is extremely overwhelming. o.k. I have to quit thinking about it now.

I had a work Christmas party today at an italian place. It was delicious. I got in some good pasta carbs and I even ate a piece of cheesecake. YUM!! I have antoher Christmas party tonight with husbands work friends. It should be fun too. They are always good for a heart laugh or two or ten. I am just concerned about getting home too late and not being rested for my run. Hopefully, I can get husband out of there at a decent hour. We shall see how that goes.

o.k say a little prayer for me mid-morning on Saturday that I am started and doing well and as always avoiding injury.

Officially training for a FULL MARATHON!

I am NOW officially training for a FULL MARATHON! I just completed my 3rd half marathon on Saturday in Memphis and it was GREAT!! It was so much fun and the route was VERY scenic. There were 6 of us that stuck together so we chatted the whole way and it made the time pass by really fast.

What a pleasure it was to complete it with 2 people (a husband and a wife) that this was their first 1/2 marathon. What an amazing accomplishement for them and to experience it with them was an unforgetable experience.

So now I will run 4 days a week, 3 short runs of 3-5 miles and one long run anywhere from 10-20 miles. Getting in the 4 days a week is going to be my biggest challenge. I have to MAKE it happen. I WILL NOT go into this marathon un prepared. My heart will get me through it b/c I have trained my cardivascular system to withstand the long endurance distances. So no problem there. Over time my legs and feet should be ready b/c of the training I will be doing. The only thing that might get in my way from time to time will be my MIND!! It really crazy what a mental battle this is with yourself. Running anything beyond 13 miles at this point just seems so difficult b/c that is the farthest distance I have gone so far. I have to take this just one week at a time. Looking at the overall picture is just to overwhelming for me right now.

Here is my plan for this week:

Tuesday - 4 mile run
Wednesday - 4 mile run
Thursday - 3 mile run
Friday - off
Saturday - 14 mile run
Sunday - off

Each of these nights I will spend 10 minutes before bed stretching. A friend from PNP that I met in Memphis shared the importance of stretching and shared some good stretches for runners so I am going to do that. Also, 3 days a week I will do some pushups, planks, supermans and this other lower back strengthening exercise. I really should be doing some upper body ST but I am just not certain I will get it in so I will do these few basic exercises to keep my upper body and core strong enough to complete the race.

Memphis bound!



I am headed to Memphis this weekend to run in the St. Jude half marathon. I will be doing it with several fellow Phit-N-Phat'ers. A few of which have never run a race at all much less a half marathon. I am looking SO FORWARD TO IT!! As crazy as it sounds this will be my 3rd half marathon so I am not really worried about since I obviously know I can finish it. I am really looking forward to enjoying the experience with those that this is their first time b/c it is an amazing experience to push yourself to do something like this. When you think of all of the time, training, thought and preparation that went into training for a half marathon and then when you actually cross the finish line there are just few experiences like it.

As for me, I am doing SO MUCH BETTER! I ran 3 times last week and then I ran this morning and so far so good with my foot. I put it in ice water for about 5 minutes after every run and it hasn't bothered me yet. After my long run of 13 miles on Saturday that will be a true test to see how it will hold up for the longer distances. My neck has much improved and I still do the massage to it every few days then I do my neti pot once a day at night to keep my sinuses cleaned out so I can keep breathing good. So far so good.

BIGGEST LOSER is no tonight. This is where they get the big makeovers and then they are revealing their new looks on the Tyra Banks show. That entire show will air on Wednesday. I already have the DVR set to record. Oh, I can't wait to see them. I really can't wait to see Michelle and Renee, the Mom and Daughter team. They are so beautiful already and were when they started the show. I can't wait to see them all fixed up and with nice clothes that actually fit them. CAN'T WAIT!!

I got my 3 mile run done this AM so nothing would get in my way of watching the show. I will start it though late after my girls go to bed. Love the DVR!!
