Friday! WOOT WOOT!

Well it is finally Friday. It was a short week and it was NICE!! Tomorrow night J and I are going out with his baby brother who turns 21!!!! I can't believe it. I met him when he was 13 and now he is 21. I remember telling him that when he got to be 21 that I would go out on the town with him. He didn't think I would b/c I would be too old. He is CRAZY!! Never to old to go out and have a good time, right? So we are going to dinner with the family on Saturday night then we will hit the downtown area and then head to the bar where the band is that he wants to see. It should be a good time had by all. I am really looking forward to it.

Sunday morning we will go to decoration at our families cemetery. That is where they decorate the graves of the family that are buried there then they do a potluck lunch. It is a good time to see a lot of other family that you don't see very often. I haven't checked the weather, hopefully it will be nice. Besides those 2 outings I don't have anythign planned. Probably the usual, laundry, vacuum and pick up the house. FUN FUN!

It is 3 weeks exactly from my vacation. I can't believe it. I CAN'T WAIT!! This week has been average with my food. I have actually eaten at a maintenance level instead of a fat loss level. I have to nuckle down buckle down do it do it do it. I can totally still get in those shorts that I want to fit into but it won't happen if I eat at maintenance. I must get back to fat loss mode eating. I CAN DO IT!!! Plus, I need to pick up the exercise some so that the inches will go down.

ok, I am off here, I must get busy at work. Have a great weekend.

Early morning exercise...

gets the blood pumping!! I managed to get my bootie out of bed this morning at 5:30 and get in some strength training. I also did 30 push ups and some planks and ab exercises. I was so energized and I had my IPOD on and was jammin' out to some great tunes. I even had time to eat breakfast. The girls cooperated really well this morning and the traffic has thinned out some so I was like 6-7 minutes early to work. CRAZY!!!

Food plan for today:
post workout - 1/2 protein shake
B - 1 egg and 1 egg substitute omelet w/ 3/4 oz. of cheese
S - rice cake and 1 tbsp of peanut butter
L - salad, steak and green beans (left over from Monday night dinner)
S - 15 almonds and protein shake
D - I am thinking tilapia and steamed broccoli and a salad

Nothing like a Monday off work

I LOVE long weekends. There is just something about not having to get up on a Monday morning and head to work that is just AWESOME!! Not nearly as bad to come to work on Tuesday morning knowing I just have to work for 4 days instead of the dreaded 5 day work week.

I had a great weekend. I relaxed, played with the girls, took a nap, slept in one day, cleaned my house really good, played golf with the fam, had some family over for a cookout and played outside. It was just so nice to not have to go anywhere and not have anything on the agenda unless it just came up.

My food was average. I did really good about 70% of the time. I enjoyed a great splurge mexican meal and then I enjoyed some potatoes cooked on the grill with lots of butter and some sour cream and some dessert last night. Believe it or not I ate my first fast food in a really long time. We went to McD's and I got a hamburger happy meal w/ small fry and a water. It was just enough and I was able to stay in a decent calorie range. It was fine but I don't miss fast food in the least. I am thankful that I don't really like it and it is not difficult for me at all to not eat it. I was able to maintain control and that is a huge reward.

I did not do any formal exercise though but that is o.k. I am fine with it. I have 3 days planned of exercise for this week.

I am drinking my water today and just staying on track w/ my food.

Under the weather

I am not feeling well. I have managed to fend of sickness for 5 months now and even through my 1/2 marathons. I was always so scared I was going to get sick while I was training and it would set me back but I didn't. But now I am not feeling well and of course it is before a nice long weekend. GEEZ!! I am going to the Dr. this afternoon. My ears are hurting. I think it could be allergies and drainage. I haven't had an earache in SO long. I just hope I start to feel better as the weekend goes on. Say a little prayer for me.

Food is still good and I have exercised 2 days this week which is better than my 1 day last week. I plan to exercise either on Saturday or Sunday to make it 3 days.

I don't have any big plans for the weekend. I really need to mark some things off my to do list.

Have a great long Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy it!

Did I make it 3 days in a row...

No, I didn't. It is ok though. I have been thinking DD#2 was not feeling well and yesterday she ran a fever most of the day and so I took her in late yesterday afternoon to get her checked out and she has double ear infections. Therefore, she still ran fever last night and I am sure her ears are bothering her so I had to hold her most of the night. I am fine with it though. This is called LIFE and sometimes it gets in the way. I just accept it and take care of my baby girl and hopefully she will be feeling better tonight and I will get up in the morning. I cannot help the things that I cannot control.

My food yesterday was good though. I did have a few chips at lunch at a mexican place but the rest of the day was good and clean! I am still doing good with keeping my protein up and my carbs in the low end and chugging about 100 oz. of water per day.

2 days in a row...

YES you read that right, I have gotten up early and done 2 days in a row of AM exercise. I AM SO PROUD!!! This morning I did the FIRM, ultimate calorie blaster, it is a step aerobics DVD and I burned 271 cals in 38 minutes. Not bad I would say for a morning workout.

Let's see if I can make it 3 days in a row!! I CAN DO IT!! I WILL DO IT!

STOP THE PRESSES...

I got up at 5:10 AM and worked out. WOOT WOOT!! Hubby gave me a gentle rah rah and a push to get out of the bed and I did. I have been struggling with getting in my workouts so I figured I needed to go back to what I really enjoy for a little bit and that is workout DVD's. I am a big Jillian Michaels fan so I did a workout of hers that I have. It really gets the heart pumping and it incorporates weights and cardio and abs. It is a 30 minute workout but pretty intense.

My food is still going great.

I was down 1 pound last week to 151!!!!!!

I was able to wear a pair of shorts on Saturday that have been too tight and then today I have on a pair of capris that I haven't been able to get into. EXCITING!!! I am just thrilled that more clothes are starting to fit.

Plugging along

All is going well. I have been sticking to my food plan really well. YEA!! I have only exercised once this week which I am not that proud of but I suppose it is better than none. I have a potluck at work today and I brought raw veggie with ranch dip made with light sour cream. I am confident with my ability to eat good today though. We have several people bringing vegetables and then of course I brought the raw ones and someone is bringing a meet and cheese tray so I can eat some turkey meat w/ no bread. I should totally be able to stick to my plan. I am not sure what is for dessert. I will survey the scene and see if it is worth it or not.

Here is what I ate yesterday:
I did a strength workout in the morning at 6
post workout protein shake around 7am
B - 1 egg, 2 egg whites, omelet w/ 1 oz. of cheese and 2 slices of chopped canadian bacon, 2 tbsp of salsa
S - 15 almonds
L - lettuce, 1/2 avocado, 1 serving deli turkey meat, 15 carrots, laughing cow wedge
S - homemade protein bar
D - rotisserie chicken, sauteed squash, salad w/ sbd ranch dressing

I am doing well keeping my carbs low and my protein high and getting in at least 100 oz. of water.

Stepping it up!

I have realized that these last 10 pounds or so are not going to come off easy so if I want to get to where I am visualizing myself I am going to have to step it up a notch. I eat pretty good most days but I am going to start eating even better. I am going to cut out my morning oatmeal and replace it with egg whites and then I am cutting out diet dr. pepps except for an occasional one. I will make sure I get in 3-4 30-40 minute exercise sessions each week. This is all doable for me. Everytime I go to put something in my mouth I am going to ask myself if it is going to get me to where I want to be and if not then in the trash it goes and I will choose something else. I will continue to have one splurge meal each week that I can eat whatever I want. I feel this is important for long term success and that of course is what I am after.

Food today:
B (7:15)- 2 egg white and 1 egg beater omelet w/ 1/2 oz. of cheese and spinach
S (10:00)- protein shake and 15 almonds
L (11:45)- chicken fajita salad w/ salsa and quacamole for dressing and NO CHIPS
S (2:30) - 1 cup of sliced strawberries
S (3:30) - atkins advantage bar
S (4:45) - protein shake
D (7:00) - not sure yet, probably grilled chicken w/ swiss cheese on it and steamed brocoli

It seems like there are several hours between when I eat lunch and when I eat dinner so I spread my snacks out so that I don't get hungry and I am not STARVING when dinner arrives and overeat. It seems to work out good for me.

The things we do to lose some FAT!

I finally got my bootie out of bed this morning at 5:30 for a good ol' strength training workout. Boy it felt GOOD!! I have been wanting to get back in the groove of it. Daughter #2 hasn't been sleeping well but she did last night and I got right out of bed at 5:30. I was so glad it was done for the day.

My food has been really good and I am making a big effort to workout 4 days a week. I will be concentrating more on strength training and doing high intensity interval training (HIIT). This is stuff like sprinting and then light jogging or walking in between. It really spikes the heart rate for a good calorie / fat burn. I will just do it out on my street and sprint for a bit then jog or walk then sprint some more and so on for about 20 minutes at a time. It is pretty intense so it doesn't take long to do.

Here is what I ate today:
B - protein shake and oatmeal
L - half turkey sandwich and side salad w/ ranch on the side
S - 2 slices canteloupe
S - 100 call pack kettle popcorn
S - 15 almonds
(I was really hungry this afternoon for some reason)
D - roast, potatoes and carrots, brocolli, salad w/ lettuce and cucs and carrots

I did take a 4 bites of Chloe's peanut butter cookie and over at Phit-N-Phat we do this BLT (bite, lick and taste) challenge and if you bite, lick or taste something that you shouldn't then you decide on your own punishment. So I did 50 crunches and 20 push ups, 5 of which were on my toes. GO ME!! These BLT's add up in calories if you do too many of them daily so anything you can do to deter you from doing it is what you have to do. Oh the things we do to ourselves to lose some FAT. Isn't it GREAT!

Thank yous!

I want to take a minute to thank all of the wonderful people in my life that enouraged me and supported me along the way of my journey to the half marathons. Of course I did make the time and get out there and do the running myself it would not have been possible with out the help and support from many people that I love.

First, my very sweet and supportive husband. He constantly tells me how proud he is of me and would always give me that little push out the door when I just wasn't into running that day or I was doubting myself that I could actually run 10 miles or 12 miles. He is a coach and so he obviously knows how to encourage others and bring out the best in them so that is exactly what he did. He through a little tough love in there too and a "no whining and no quiting" attitude. Which is what I needed to hear sometimes. He would often pick up the girls from my parents house or hang out with them while I ran. Not that he doesn't do that anyway but obviously on the days that I would run after work since I typically pick them up he would shift around his plans to do so. He just encouraged and supported me along the way and without that I could have done it but it would have been a major struggle many times. I am so thankful for his love and support and helping me believe that I could do it.

Second, my parents and sister. They all also tell me how proud they are of me. My dad calls me a "road runner". Throughout my training they would help watch the girls too and do whatever I needed anytime to make sure I got my runs in. My sister was constantly calling me to see how the training was going and would encourage me every step of the way.

Third, my friends. I have some awesome friends that are constantly encouraging me and praising me along the way. It just means so much to be supported by the people that you care about it. It just makes all of the time and commitment that much easier when you have people behind you.

Finally, last but certainly not least my Phit-n-Phat family. They have been there through it all with advice and support. They were full of helpful information. At first I thought when you ran that you just got out there and ran but after many conversations with others at PNP that have run in the past they shared the in's and out's of running. I guess you can just get out there and run but it makes it a lot easier when you know the foods that will help fuel your body and how much to drink and such. I could not have done this without their knowledge.

A very special shout goes out to JESSICA and JULIE!!! They ran both half marathons with me and I would not have wanted to do it without them. It was an adventure of a lifetime that I will never forget.

Now, we shall see how supportive all of these folks are when I get ready to train for my full marathon in a few years...I am not worried one bit.
