Day 3 of my good clean eating

I am 3 days down of solid and mean solid clean eating. No waivering at all and nothing that isn't good for me. It is amazing how I already feel leaner although the scale doesn't confirm it. But as always I don't let the scale rule me so I will continue to feel good in my 8's and my continued loose size 10's. WOOT!

My dear parents came out to my house to help me weed my flower beds and put down some compost that my Mom got from the city. Ya'll, my flower beds were AWFUL!I mean weeds were so tall and so thick it was hurrendous. I felt so bad having them help me with it but thankfully my Mom loves to garden so that helps a little. I need to make a little bit better effort to keep it weeded, it just gets a way from me and frankly it isn't a priority. Kids and husband are #1, then cleaning my house and exercise are a tight 2nd. Weeding my flowerbed just doesn't fit in there. For now it looks 1 gazillion times better and I am thrilled about it. We still have some more work to do by tilling in the compost and spraying round up to kill the roots of the weeds and then putting in some mulch but it is off to a good start at least.

Here is my menu for today:
B - 3 egg whites (I eat hard boiled egg whites), 1/4 cup of sliced strawberries, 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal and 10 almonds
S - peach, 1/2 oz. of walnuts and 1 tbsp of fat free cool whip = DELICIOUS!
L - SBD pizza and 10 slices of red pepper
S - low carb wrap, ground turkey, spinach leaves and mustard
D - chicken stir fry with 1 small yellow squash, red and green pepper and broccoli w/ 1 tbsp of soy sauce = SO GOOD

By the way I walked with Lesley this morning and Wednesday morning I am going to do upper body ST I think.

Just checkin' in

I had a great day today. I started off with a 5:30 AM walk/jog. I stayed on my plan ALL DAY long and I even passed up the snacks at the event that I went to after work and then when I went to my parents had they had fried chicken and fried okra, oh my!! I had to talk myself out of grabbing a piece of small chicken that was sitting there. I didn't do it though. I brought the girls home and I had my dinner of 2 fried eggs, 1/2 cup of oatmeal and 6 asparagus spears. I managed to vacuum my house quickly and get the girls to bed and then I made my lunch for tomorrow. J came home late and is cooking his dinner now of grilled chicken and bacon/cream cheese in jalapenos and baked. Those are SO GOOD!! I will resist though. I am off here to fold some clothes and hit the hay so I can get up and walk with Lesley in the morning.

PIG SHOW!! Chloe and Molly IN THE HOUSE!

Chloe had her very first pig show on Friday night. She did AWESOME!! She was so excited the whole night. The show started at 9 pm and she was several classes down on the list. We had no idea if she would even really get out there and do it. She kept saying "Dad, is it my turn yet?" and he would tell her how many more classes until she was up. Well, it came time for her class around 11:15PM and she was READY! She never even hesitated and just went in that ring and her and Molly did their thing and she made Molly go all over that ring. She didn't place but she sure had a good time and we were SO PROUD of her! It was so fun for all of us to see her do it well and enjoy herself. She said "I want to do it again, when is the next show!".

I forgot to add that her pig weighed 240 pounds. That is a really big pig for a 32 pound little girl. She isn't bothered a bit by it though. Molly is just the best pig for a little girl. She is so docile and just does whatever Chloe tells her to do. I think her pig was the 2nd largest pig there. There was one that weighed in at a little over 260.

Before the show Chloe posing with her Dad.

The typical Chloe pose with her hip sticking out with her "whooper" as she calls it and her brush in her pocket.

Taking Molly around the ring. You can see Uncle Brett in the background doing a little coaching. We had family stationed out at different sides or the arena to give her a little help.

Chloe continuing to take Molly around the ring like a pro.

Coming over to get a close up for the camera.

Pig show was a SUCCESS!

This is short but I just wanted to post that Chloe did AWESOME in her pig show. She made her Mom and Dad very proud. You know we had no idea if she would actually do it and the whole time she was calm as a cucumber and just so excited. She never hesitated and she walked her pig all over that arena with her "whooper" as she calls it. It was so fun to watch. I will post pictures on Monday. Enjoy your Sunday!

I am amazed at how good I feel considering I got up early EVERYDAY this week! Yes, you read that right, FIVE days in a row up at 5ish give or take 5 minutes. Last Friday I actually slept in until 7 and I was so sluggish and tired the whole day. I ended up walking with my friend Lesley this morning and that was really nice. It was just great to get up and going and get my blood pumping. We didn't push it to hard b/c she is still having trouble with her knee but we did walk for about 45 minutes. I was glad we took it easy though b/c I have such a big exercise day tomorrow that I needed to rest my body a little.

Tonight is the BIG night for Chloe's first pig show. Please say a little prayer that she does really good. Obviously we don't care if her pig wins we just want her to have the confidence to get out in the ring with all of the other much bigger kids and all of the pigs and walk her pig around. As I said before we just don't know if she will actually do it when it comes down to it but we are about to find out. I will have the camera and video camera ready to go.

I hope all of you have a great weekend!

Getting geared up for a busy weekend

I am at work again early as I have been for the last 3 weeks since I have getting up to exercise in the AM. It is GREAT!! I just love getting my day started like this. This morning I did step aerobics and it felt good. It was tough but I pushed myself hard.

I have a busy upcoming weekend at least the first part of it anyway.

Friday AM - walk with Lesley
Friday PM - Chloe's pig show. Her first one with Molly. I will report on how this goes on Monday. She is just 3 3/4 so although we are not expecting much we are certainly hoping for the best. We are pumping her up for it that is for sure.

Saturday AM from 8 - 12 - 4 exercise classes at the gym. Body pump, body attack, body combat and body flow. Whew!! I probably won't be able to walk for a few days. I am just going to push myself the hardest I can and if towards the end I have to bring it down a notch then I can do that. I will pay attention to how I feel and just go with that.

Saturday lunch - My dear friend Sara is coming in town from Chicago. I AM SO EXCITED! I love seeing her. She took me 7 years ago to the Atlantis resort through a trip that she won through her work. It was FREE!! ALL OF IT FREE!! It was amazing. A serious fantasy land. If you ever get the opportunity to visit the Atlantis I strongly encourage it. Anyway, we are having lunch at our favorite pizza place. They have great salads but I am pretty certain I will have a slice of pizza or two.

Saturday PM - hopefully resting and relaxing. Probably not, something will probably come up for us to do.

Sunday - as of now we don't have any specific plans so maybe we can keep it that way. I will need to rest up for the next week.

So that is it, that is my weekend in a nutshell. I will report in tomorrow but I thought I would do the weekend plan now since I was thinking about it and since I am so excited about everything. Have a great Thursday!

This AM exercise madness is continuing!

I did it again ya'll. I pulled some dedication out of my hat and I did another 5:30 AM workout and this time it was in my good ol' living room, garage and neighborhood. The alarm went off at 5:10 and my sweet husband said "Babe, time to get out of bed" so with my two feet on the floor I was good to go and I got ready, brushed my teeth, washed my face which helps me wake up a bit and made my way to the living room. I did my upper body strength training, that took about 25 minutes. then I went to the garage and did a high intensity interval training workout from Phit-n-Phat on the treadmill for 15 minutes then decided I had a little more juice so I kept it up and jogged/sprinted/walked 1 mile around my neighborhood. It was HOT and HUMID!! I was sweating up a storm but I felt so strong and powerful b/c I have proved to myself that I can be an exercise machine if I want to.

You won't believe this but I am on track to exercise 6 days this week. I have 3 done already and I am headed to the gym tomorrow AM for step aerobics then on Friday I am walking/jogging with my friend Lesley as long as her knee is doing ok (she has knee problems) and then Saturday I am headed to the gym for a bootcamp style workout with 4 different classes from 8am until 12pm. As crazy as it sounds I am really looking forward to it.

Has anyone seen the Dawn from about 1 month ago who could barely get a workout in? NO, that is right b/c she is GONE, LONG GONE!! I have some extreme motivation, dedication and commitment to get to my goal and nothing is getting in my way and I am even upping the anty and exercising 6 days in one week!! WOOT WOOT!!

2 for 2 and Cheer Camp

I am 2 for 2 on AM workouts this week. WOOT WOOT!!! Tomorrow is my challenge though b/c I am not planning to go to the gym (unless I can get it worked out with J and the girls) and so I will just be waking up with an appt. in my living room to do upper body strength training and then something on the treadmill. I WILL DO IT THOUGH!!! As I posted in my Phit-N-Phat journal I am on a mission and I am burning through some fat. My pants are getting lose and my belly is oh so slowly getting smaller. It is just a great feeling when you can see your hard work paying off. The scale isn't cooperating but I have never been on to let the scale tell me if I am succeeding or not. Obvsiouly, in time the scale will move down. You can't exercise hard and stay spot on with your food and the scale not eventually move. It has a mind of its own.

Completely unrelated to my health and fitness journey is my 3 1/2 year old daughter who went to a cheerleading camp a couple of weeks ago. Much to my husbands disapproval she is a cheerleading fanatic. I think it is b/c we go to my husbands football games and to keep her attention I have her watch the cheer leaders and drill team so now she loves them. I mean, I gotta do what I gotta do and if their noise and motions keep her entertained then that is what I will do. You can only look for your Dad for so long on the football field and find him then that gets old fast. So we signed her up for a pre-school cheer camp and she seemed to have a good time. They did a little performance for the parents on the last day. Here she is in all her glory with her purple eye shadow and glitter in her hair and then with her medal. She is on the right hand side with the little pyramid.

Yes, I am really glad that it is Monday and I did my AM exercise. I am really loving this. I am shocked at how much better it makes me feel. Of course I did not exercise on Friday - Sunday and I felt sluggish and tired all three days. It shocks me at how much a difference that it makes when I get 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours more sleep on Saturday and Sunday and I feel more tired through the day and I want to take a nap. CRAZY!!! I got my Monday off to a great start by walking and a little bit of jogging with Lesley, we took it a little easy to get her back in the swing of things. I wanted her to be able to walk tomorrow you know. It felt so good though just to get up and get the blood pumping! Tomorrow morning I am going to the gym for a class at 5:30 for the last of my free pass. Then Lesley and I were going to walk/run on Thursday but we moved it to Friday so I am not sure yet if I will just get up Wednesday and Thursday or if I will just do it one of these days. I might push the limits and get up all 5 days. WHOA!! That would be crazy of me but I just might do it. Then on Saturday I am actually going to that gym that I have been going to for a boot camp style workout with 4 classes that I am attending. They do this every 3 months apparently where they launch the new versions of their classes and they have a Saturday morning full of classes right after another. IT will be tough but fun and a great great workout!!

Miscellaneous and tip of the day

It is Friday. This week flew by as they always do. No big plans this weekend which is nice b/c soon the weekends will start getting busier with Razorback football games and hunting season and J's football season starting. The fall is always just so busy. Fun but busy.

I enjoyed my splurge meal yesterday at lunch. I had chicken fajitas and chips and cheese dip. It was really good. I have started doing my splurge meal during the week during lunch one day b/c J doesn't want to do one for a while b/c he is so focused on his good eating that he doesn't want to lose the focus he has right now. I am able to have my splurge and get back on track the next meal but it is harder to do that in the beginning so I can work around it and do it at lunch. I think it is better anyway b/c I eat less at lunch than I would if I had the meal at dinnertime.

My food will be spot on this weekend since we will be at home. We are going to eat out on Sunday at lunch but I can stay on my plan. I don't have any formal exercise planned either. I got my 4 days in so I am good. I have my exercise week planned out beginning on Monday though so I am glad about that. Monday through Thursday again of AM exercise.

Tip of the day: I thought I would share with you what I have recently learned that I should have been doing A LONG TIME AGO and that is BOILING EGGS!! This is so easy and such a great way to eat a snack or breakfast that is quick and healthy. I started doing it this week and I take 2 eggs and a piece of fruit and eat that for breakfast after I get to work from my AM workout. It is so easy. I boil about 6 at a time every 3 days and just have them on hand in the fridge for whenever I want one for b-fast or for a snack. I am sure you could do more at a time depending on how quickly you eat them. I have no idea how long they are good in the fridge, most likely a long time. Anyway, learn from my mistake and if you aren't boiling eggs already start doing it now b/c it is super easy and quick and it makes for a no excuses snack when you need something or an addition to a meal.

It's Thursday already!

I can hardly believe it is Thursday. This week has gone by so fast for me. I am 4/4 on my AM workouts and I could not be happier about it. I am thrilled that I have done it 2 weeks in a row. I think I have gotten back in the routine and I have proven to myself that I CAN DO IT!! So now just continuing it is the key. I only have one more day of a free pass at the gym I was going too but I have a new plan in action for next week so I am thrilled about that. My friend, Lesley, is wanting to get back in shape after having her baby girl and she enjoys running and we live close to each other SOOOO we have worked out plan that 1 day a week I will go to her house and run and then one day a week she will come to mine. We will do this at 5:30 AM. So YEAH, that is 2 days planned each week for sure. Then either I will get up at home and do my upper and lower body strength training or I will go to the gym that I am actually a member at. I haven't figured out which one yet. Maybe a combination of both depending on the week. I have a plan and now all I have to do is follow it.

I have next week's plan already lined out though:
Monday - run at Lesley's
Tuesday - last day of free pass, old school aerobics class
Wednesday - at home upper and lower body strength training
Thursday - Lesley run at my house

Night out on the town

Here are some pictures from J's and I night out last Thursday to see a band that we love, Cross Canadian Ragweed.

First, this is my new MEDIUM dress I bought in the JUNIORS section at Kohl's. I LOVED IT!!!! I still can hardly believe I can wear this stuff now. My sweet hubby encouraged me to go shopping for one and we found this one and I loved the way it looked and the color.

Dawm and Jeremy at the concert site.

Dawn - Brett - Jordan - UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL!

Dawn and Jordan in our BLUE!

Our friends Bryan and Katherine

Speaking of BLUE, did you notice Katherine's very blue eyes (click on the picture to make it bigger and you can really see them), they just jump out at you!

Cross Canadian Ragweed GROUPIES!

Bo and Cortney at George's after the concert. We went to watch another band and they were so good!!! Some good dancin' tunes.

Dawn and Jeremy at George's

Am I forming a HABIT??????

Yes, this is the big question, am I forming a habit of being an AM exerciser again? I actually used to exercise in the AM about 2 1/2 years ago when my neighbor and I started running at 5 AM in our neighborhood then about 6 months into our good habit she moved and I wasn't as consistent after that and haven't been since. I would get up occasionaly but nothing like 4 days a week. In fact when I ran with her we would do it 2-3 days a week depending on the week. So this is the most I have ever gone in a row and I LOVE IT!!! It is tough, I mean tough to pull yourself out of bed but I must admit it IS WORTH IT!! I am so glad I am doing it. I love getting my workout out of the way. This morning I did body attack which is like old school aerobics and it is my favorite class so far. Tomorrow I am taking Jordan through one of my upper body Phit-N-Phat workouts and then we are going to do some running/power walking intervals on the indoor track. It should be fun. Then on Thursday we are venturing out and trying a spin class. My food has been on the verge of EXCELLENT!! I am feeling smaller already and the scale is slowly coming back down from my week long vacation hiatus.

Great weekend!

First, let me tell you that I got up again today and went to the gym at 5:30!!! That is two Monday's in a row. WOOT!! I had to really argue with myself this morning but I did it and after I got there I was so glad I did.

My weekend was GREAT!! I did not exercise as I had planned not to but my food was excellent. In fact the best weekend I have had in a while.

Thursday night J and I had our outing and it was so much fun. I hope to post pictures of that tomorrow I think. Friday we slept in and ran some errands and hung out with the girls then Saturday I went to a wedding shower for a long time friend and then we rearranged our furniture in the living room and that went well and it was a great opportunity for me to vacuum and mop which I was glad of. Then Sunday I helped my brother-in-law clean out his room. This was a major project but it is done and it looks GREAT!! I hope to post some before and after pics of that too.

Very busy but very fun. I hope to actually relax a little bit this coming weekend and maybe take a nap.

WOOT WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I DID IT!! 4 days of AM exercise = COMPLETE!!!!!!! Crap, now I have to do it next week again since I proved to myself that I can do it. HAHA It is kind of like when you are building up to run, if you finally are able to run 1/2 mile without stopping then the next time you have to do 3/4 of a mile and so on. That darn dedication and pushing yourself gets you every time.

I AM SO PROUD!!! First, I have been in a major exercise slump. That might seem hard to imagine from someone that ran 2 half marathons in April but it is true. After my last half at the end of April I have struggled to keep the exercise consistent but I AM BACK IN BUSINESS NOW!! I really do enjoy exercising it is just making myself put on the shoes and the workout clothes and getting started that is tough for me. I have my MOJO back now I do believe. In fact I had the best exercise week and food week combined that I have had in 2 months. It just FEELS SO GOOD! I plan on keeping this momentum up as long as I can. I have some goals to reach and exercising and eating like I have this week will get me there.

I have no formal exercise planned for the next 3 days though. 4 days is good for me and I will just get a little rest and play with my girls and enjoy my weekend. Actually, I get another extended weekend this week. J and I are going to a concert tonight in town and then I am taking off on Friday. Saturday I have a wedding shower for a long time friend and then Saturday night we are going to a birthday party for a 3 year old who's Mom I work with. Then on Sunday no specific plans as of now. I feel a Sunday afternoon nap coming on though. I have to get rejuvenated and rested so that I can continue with my AM exercise. I am truly determined to make this a habit and just something I do every week. I believe I am off to a great start.

Thanks to all of you for sticking with me this week and I appreciate very much the support and encouragment.

Conversation with myself.

This morning at 4:45 after my alarm had gone off I had a conversation in my head quietly of course b/c my dear husband was sleeping soundly. Anyway, I was like "oh my, I am so tired, I could so easily reset the alarm for 6:30 and sleep another 1 hour and 45 minutes (oh my that seems like so much longer), NO DAWN, get your bootie out of bed now, oh man, it would be so nice to lay here, DAWN, you have worked to hard the past two days and this is day 3 and after today you only have one more day to make it 4 and you will be so proud that you achieved your weekly goal. GET OUT OF BED NOW!!!" My body beat my mind and I put those two feet on the ground and off I went. I AM SO DARN PROUD I CAN HARDLY STAND IT!!! This is a major accomplishment for me and I can really believe that I have done it 3 days in a row. Tomorrow will actually be easy b/c I know I won't let myself down and not finish my 4th day since I have already done 3 and also tomorrow is the class I have been looking most forward to trying, step. The key to this is continuing it and not just letting it be one week. There is going to come a time very soon in the next few weeks that I can't go to the gym and I will just have to work out at home early and that will be yet another challenge b/c I am realizing I have more dedication when I have to be some where at a certain time and then when I am there I don't want to slack off in front of everyone and then Jordan has been so awesome too and meeting me there. I am so proud of her. We are going to finish the week off strong for our 4th day this week tomorrow. WOOT WOOT!!!!

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Can you say "MIRACLE"??? Two days in a row, yes you heard it here, two days in a row of AM workouts. I was up at 4:55 this AM getting ready to head to Fayetteville Athletic Club for my 2nd visit of my 7 day free pass. Todays class was Body Attack. This was a true Phit-n-Phat style workout. It was just a major cardio hour with knee lefts, leg kicking, grapevines, running up and back and around the room, hopping and push ups and abs thrown in there too. I LOVED IT!! It got my heart rate up there and kept it elevated. As the class was getting close to the finish and I was getting a little tired I was saying over and over in my head "push it, finish strong and leave it all at the gym". Corinne at PNP always tells us that if you are going to take the time to workout or go to a gym then make it worth your time and leave it all at the gym. I was trying to remember that as my energy level was dwindling. I finished strong though and I was proud.
The bad thing is that this gym is kind of pricey and I actually already have a gym membership at another place that is a very minnimal price. I have no intention of joining this gym but I wanted to give these classes a try. I am considering in the future becoming certified to teach them. Then I figured I could get a free membership, sounds like a good idea don't you think. I need to get into tip top shape though and make sure I can perform all of the push ups and talk at the same time. I think I would really enjoy being an instructor though. We shall see.

My goal for the week is 4 days of AM workouts, I am half way there. I am planning to go tomorrow and Thursday. There is something about having a start time for your workout and also my friend, Jordan, has been meeting me there and that makes all the difference in the world. THANK YOU JORDAN!!

I will post in tomorrow to let you know how my 2nd body pump class was.

Great weekend and Great start to the week!

We had such a nice extended weekend with the 4th of July holiday. We went to a get together at our friends house, we went to my cousins house for a pool party and cookout and shot fireworks, J and I played with the girls and rested and took naps, we went to dinner with his brother and his girlfriend and watched a movie. Plus I did the usual laundry, vacuuming, dusting and dishes and J played golf.

Then to start the week off with a BANG I got up at 4:45AM and met Jordan at the gym for a 5:30AM body pump class. It felt so good to get it over with. I just showered at the gym and even had time to get gas in my car before getting to work 25 minutes early. It was tough as usual to get out of bed but once I got started it was so worth it and my workout was done for the day.

I am so proud of myself b/c I have really been struggling with the exercise and then I also never workout on Mondays but I did both today. YEAH!!1

I can't wait until tonight to see the finale of the bachelorette. WHO WILL DEANNA CHOOSE????????? I can't wait to find out.

Beach photos

Here are some more beach photos:

Chloe armed and ready to face the sand:

Lizzie ready for some fun in the sun:

My Mom wiped out by a wave after she was boogy boarding:

Storm on the horizon. It rained really hard the last day for about 30 minutes or so and that was it.

Chloe and Jordan (Uncle Brett's girlfriend) after they buried Uncle Brett in the sand:

Great picture of Chloe and Jordan at the beach:

Chloe and Lizzie in their matching dresses in the condo before going out to dinner:

This is the most hilarious picture of all. Brett and Jordan do this "jumping" picture at random spots so they decided to do it on the beach while we were waiting to eat at a restaurant. You will see that Jordan is in the perfect "jump" position but Brett is still just getting there. This makes me laugh out loud every time I see it.

My beach family

It will take me forever to post all of the pictures that I want to from the beach so I might just post a few here and there.

Here is one that turned out good. Of course you can never have both kids looking the right way but at least she wasn't crying. That was a plus. The picture really doesn't due it justice. The beach is just gorgeous.

If you click on it I think it will take you to your picture viewer and it shows it bigger. It is better when it is bigger. You get to see the sand and the water.
