Long weekend

I am SO looking forward to this long weekend and having Monday off. We are headed to take Chloe to a pig show this weekend in Wichita Falls, TX. It should be fun. I am looking foward to the weekend away. I will have 4 adults to help take care of my one child so I am hoping for a little relaxing and maybe just sitting. Oh to just sit down and not think for a bit sounds REALLY NICE!! I have just been on the go go go so much the past month that I haven't had much time to relax. I would take just 30minutes if it was sent my way. I think I might get it this weekend. Chloe is so excited to go to Texas and show her pig. It will be a big one with lots of competititon so we will just be there to compete with the best of them. I promise to take pictures and post them as soon as I can.

I hope all of you have a wondeful Labor Day weekend.

5 year wedding anniversary

This past Friday was J and I's 5 year wedding anniversary. I CANNOT BELIEVE it has been 5 years. As my husband called it "highly average" I said well I guess that is better than "lowly average". HAHA It really has been great. We really have so much fun together. We LAUGH A LOT!! At each other mainly and the goofy things we do. Last night J said something backwards and it was hilarious, we both died laughing. We really try to find the humor in things and we make fun of each other a lot. With the stress that I feel sometimes from having 2 younger kids and a coach as a husband humor is ALWAYS needed. We are both anxious to see what the next 5 years will bring. I am sure it will be FUN no matter what it is.

We had the pleasure of attending a wedding of a dear friend of mine, Caroline. We have been friends since we were 14. She is now 33 and her fiance was 33 also and neither of them have been married. They looked very happy.

Here are some pics.
I tried to get a picture of her dress b/c it was beautiful. One of the pics is of her wedding portrait. That picture turned out GREAT!! One of the other pics is of my friend since I was 14 too, Cameron. Then you will see Jeremy enjoying his piece of wedding cake as a splurge. I withstood the temptation and passed it up.

I'm doing it again!

I am running a half marathon on December 6th. It is the St. Jude half/marathon in Memphis. A lot of my Phit-N-Phat friends will be along for the ride and I can't wait. I started my running training yesterday with a 3 miles run/walk. It went really well. I thought I would be sore this morning since I hadn't run over 1 1/2 at one time in 3 1/2 months but I have been exercising so I think that just made me stronger and getting back to it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I am glad to be back to the running. I really enjoy it. Having a goal/race in mind keeps me more focused and consistent with my exercise b/c if you don't do the running/strength training then you will never be able to finish the race and that certainly is not an option. I will be doing 1-2 upper body strength training days to keep my upper body and core strong.

I might not be a consistent poster over the next few weeks. Work and life just have me busy for now. I will do my best to keep you updated on how I am doing though.

My dear Olympics...

Are coming to an end. Sunday night will be the closing ceremonies. My exercise schedule can resume. I have unintentionally had a break from exercise b/c I have stayed up WAY too late to get up early but come Monday morning that will no longer be the case. Cute as a button Miss Shawn Johson finally got her beloved GOLD medal a few nights ago on the balance beam. She is just precious. Love her big smile.

Chloe's pig show!

Chloe had her 2nd pig show this past Saturday at the County Fair in our area. She did GREAT again and as an added bonus the judge thought her pig looked good and she won her class and overall for the gilts (Momma pigs).

Here are some of the pics in random order. I am not labeling each one b/c that takes a while. Some are of her sweet sister, Lizzie who can't wait to get out in the ring and show her own pig and then "NO" the pig was not dead at the end just very tired. They can't do much activity at one time so she was tired.

First day of school!

Chloe and Lizzie started their first day of school yesterday. This is a part-time school and they go 3 days a week. Chloe is starting her 3rd year there and this is Lizzie's first year. The first day drop off went great. I was really worried about Lizzie and I just knew she would cry. So I took Chloe to her class first and she be-popped in like an ol' pro. She goes to sunday school in the same class and has one of the same teachers that teaches sunday school so that was easy. I mean she was just there on Sunday morning so no problems at all with her. Then I go to take Lizzie. I did not want to cry and I knew that if Lizzie cried that I would so I handed her to the teacher and I bolted. I got out of there so fast so if she cried I did not hear it. So the first day was a success. That is not to say the next few days or weeks will be but at least we are off to a good start. My parents picked them up and they said they both did very well. YEAH!! I have good kids, I am so proud!

Here is a pic of Chloe, Lizzie and I before we went into school yesterday:

I have an addiction!

Hi, my name is Dawn and I am addicted to the Olympics! I simply cannot get enough of them and I will stay up to whatever time necessary to be able to watch them. Thank goodness I am not a stay at home Mom b/c I would be in a TV coma from all of the Olympic watching I would do. Last night was SO GOOD! Michael Phelps is a swimming maniac. Can you believe the natural ability this guy has. He really is un real. Then women's USA gymnastics ROCKS!! We are the BOMB! Nastia earned every bit of that gold medal around her neck and Shawn came in a very close second. I was just so glad for both of them.

On a completely different note, Chloe has a pig show on Saturday. It was originally scheduled for next Saturday the 23rd but the changed the dates of the fair about a month ago and we just learned about it Wednesday night so Molly and Chloe will be in action Saturday mid-day. I will post pictures on Monday for sure.

Have a great weekend and WATCH THE OLYMPICS b/c I will be.

I was looking through pictures of the beach vacation again and I came across a few more pictures that I love so I thought I would share them. Man, my kids are the cutest things on earth aren't they? (YOU BETTER SAY YES!!)

Nothing wrong with SILVER!!!

Well, of course I stayed up until 11:30 last night b/c I could not miss seeing the women's gymnastic team compete. They made a few minor errors but still pulled out the silver medals. No shame in that!

Of course I didn't make it up this morning to exercise b/c this girl doesn't function on 6 hours or less of sleep. Tonight is the men's gymnastics and I am not as into that so I should be able to turn off the TV at a decent time. I am getting up and heading to Lesley's house in the morning so NO EXCUSES, I have to get there.

On the plus side my food is GREAT!!!
B - 3 egg whites, oatmeal, 1/2 cup of strawberries and 10 almonds
S - I actually didn't have one b/c I ate my b-fast later than usual
L - chicken fajita salad w/ quacamole and hot sauce as the dressing, NO CHIPS
S - atkins bar
D - chef salad w/ vinegar and oil dressing and half of a half piece of a roll

It's no use. Just DVR it Dawn and watch it in a couple of months.

As you might have read a few posts ago that no one told me that having kids meant pretty much NOT watching the Olympics until around 10:30. Why do people not tell you these things?

Last night I was strategically trying to plan my evening around watching the Olympics, and it didn't work out.
5:00 - leave work
5:15 - arrive at grocery store for a few things
5:45 - leave grocery store
5:50 - arrive at parents to pick up girls
6:00 - leave parents and drive to in-laws to feed Molly(pig) and walk her around
7:00 - leave in-laws and drive home
7:10 - arrive at home
7:15 - give girls dinner and eat myself
7:45 - neighbor comes over to get Chloe for her to play with their daughter
7:45 - clean up kitchen
8:00 - give Lizzie a bath and get her ready for bed
8:15 - put Lizzie to bed - she starts crying
8:15 - go get Chloe at neighbors house
8:20 - give Chloe a bath (while Lizzie is still crying in her bed)
8:30 - get Chloe ready for bed and read her a book
8:30 - get Lizzie out of bed and read her a book with Chloe
8:40 - put them both to bed and Lizzie still cries (I don't think she feels well)
8:50 - still trying to get J's dinner ready for when he gets home
9:00 - Chloe still not asleep and Lizzie still crying
9:05 - get Lizzie out of bed and hold her thinking that might help
Note - all of this time I saw 1 minute segments of the Olympics about every 30 minutes.
9:20 - J gets home and his dinner isn't ready and both girls are up.
9:22 - he tells Chloe and Lizzie to go to bed and what do you know, THEY DO IT!
9:25 - heat up leftover chicken and steamed broccoli for J. Thank goodness he isn't picky
9:35 - start packing my b-fast and lunch and snacks for today - J does his own
10:00 - get clothes and other stuff ready to go to the gym Tuesday morning
10:20 - lay down in bed and finally get to watch the Olympics in peace
11:15 - I am so tired, I can't make it any longer so I turn off the TV
5:15AM - alarm goes off and I realize I just can't make it on 6 hours of sleep
6:15 - get out of bed to get ready for the day.

WHEW!! That was exhausting just re-typing it. And to think I want another child. HAHA

I am such an OLYMPIC FANATIC!! It just puts a smile on my face to see all of the athletes do well. These people work so hard, probably so much harder than any of us realize and they do it to get to represent their country at the Olympics. It is just amazing how hard they push themselves just to see what they can achieve. Talk about GOALS, all of these athletes do some MAJOR goal setting. To say "I am going to the Olympics someday" and then turning that statement into a reality is simply PHENOMENAL! Imagine all the bumps in the road that they come too and how many times they might want to quit, but they don't. They push through the pain and through the workouts and the exhaustion to make their life long dream a reality. WOW! I just love it!

Talk about never giving up and reaching your goals. Did you all hear about this gymnast from Germany. She is 33!

Well it is finally Friday again and we have a fun weekend planned. Saturday night we are having a get together with the other football Coaches that J coaches with. It is at our house which means cleaning and making sure the yard is in tip top shape. So tonight after the girls go to bed I will be bustin' out some clean bathrooms and putting down some mulch on my flower beds. Just can't get much stuff done with two little toddlers running around. You clean something up and they are right behind you messing it up or pulling it back out. It never fails. But it is a good excuse to get stuff done around the house so I don't mind too much. It is a fun group so it should be fun.

OH and the best part is on Saturday I get to see Jess on Saturday. She and her husband are coming up to Fayetteville to watch the Razobacks practice football and they are going to stop by on their way out of town. I haven't seen her since we ran the Country Music half marathon at the end of April. Gosh, I wish she lived here. I am still holding on to some hope that they will one of these days.

It is time for the SUMMER OLYMPICS! I am so excited. I LOVE THEM!!! I was just thinking the other day though that the last time they were on I didn't have any children so I sat around and watched all that I wanted and I don't think it will be that way this time around. Of course I wouldn't trade my kids for getting to watch the olympics but it is just funny how your life changes and you don't even usually think about it until something comes up that you did that you didn't do last time with kids. Do you know what I mean? I have a lovely DVR so I can record things and I guess just watch them as I can. It might be months down the road and I will be watching the Olympics but that is ok. I do think that Chloe will enjoy watching them so that might be my ticket to get to watch more of the events. Lizzie on the other hand, she just might have to fend for herself while Chloe and I are glued to the TV. HAHA

I am giong to enjoy my splurge meal on Saturday night. We are having grilled chicken, potatoes and onions on the grill, baked beans, a corn dish that a friend is bringing and some dessert. Oh and the best part, I am making CHEESE DIP!! YUMMY, so I will have some of that too. Should be a worthy splurge meal.

ok, I am off here. Have a great weekend ya'll!!!!

Stay tuned for the next 8 weeks when I start lifting some major weights!

Here is the post I made to my family over at Phit-N-Phat:

Yes, you read it right DAWN can wear a SIZE SIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the background:
Last summer I started PNP in mid-June, well I got to know Lorie a little bit b/c she lived in Conway with Jess and Jess and I are friends so I was in need of some new pants b/c my 14's were getting big and I was in 12's and I obviously was going to be going down in size as time went on. Well, our little Lorie had some pants to give away that were to big for her. So in October when Jess and I ran our first 10K she brought up these clothes that Lorie had for me. Well, there were a few size 8's and a few size 6's, well at the time I was in a 12 and some 10's and weighed 160 pounds. So of course none of them fit. I thought to myself "I will put them at the top of the closet and someday I will get into the 8's and probably not the 6's". I honestly thought I would keep them and then I could sale them in a garage sale. HAHA

So now to this afternoon after work:
I have been feeling much slimmer from my clean diet and my working out so I thought "I am just going to try on those pants at the top of the closet to see if they are closer to fitting. Remember I am just 10 pounds less than I was last October, I now weigh 150. So I put on a pair that said "6P" remember little Lorie is short so she wears petite and I am kind of short too. Well, I am slipping them on and they easily go over my hips then I start to try to button them and I am thinking OH MY GOSH I THINK THEY ARE GOING TO BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what do you know THEY DO BUTTON. CAN YOU FREAKIN' BELIEVE THIS????????????? I can't.

Moral of the story:
If you read back in time in the PNP archives you will have heard me say this time and time and time again. THE SCALE LIES!!! I am 5'3" and I weigh 150 pounds and I can comfortably put on this size 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It kind of had crossed my mind that down the road in a year or so I might make a goal to try to go down to a size 6 but I really thought I would have to weigh in the 130's. Let's just say I WAS WRONG!!!!!

I was so excited and my little girls were the only ones home with me and they don't get it of course so I called Jess, I knew she was in WW meeting. She texted and said I will call you back. Well, I didn't have Lorie's number so I couldn't call her and I couldn't think of her last name to call information. Then I called Mary b/c I had her number but she wasn't home and then I called Corinne and left a message on her VM then finally my husband came home and of course I did a fashion show so that he could see what a size 6 looked like on his HOT WIFE!!! He was IMPRESSED! Then Jess called me back and I was able to share it with her. I would have called all of you if I would have had your numbers handy. I just had to tell someone. It is not every day that a previously over 200 pounder who wore a size 20 gets into a size 6, OH and I RUN HALF MARATHON'S TOO!

WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!!! This is MAJOR YA'LL!!!! I still can hardly believe it. Very soon I will take a picture of myself in them and post for all to see.

Tuesday and going strong!

I started out my morning with a good workout. Lesley and I had planned to walk but her daughter was up most of the night she she couldn't make it. I have been there and I completely understand so that was fine. Since I was already up I headed to the garage to the treadmill and did a 25 minute HIIT workout and then come inside to do some upper body strength training.

Here is my menu for today:
B - 1/2 cup fiber one, 1/2 cup skim milk, 3 boiled egg whites, 12 almonds and 8 cherry tomatoes
S - peach, almonds and cool whip mixed together
L - SBD cheese pizza, 10 red pepper strips
S - low carb wrap, deli turkey meat, mustard and some spinach
D - tilapia and asparagus

I have noticed that my two lovely belly pooches are noticeably getting smaller. I attribute it to the clean diet and the cardio. It is making a big difference in only 1 1/2 weeks. I am amazed.

Splurge meal = YUM YUM!

So if you didn't know I take 1 splurge meal or metablic boost meal as my trainer, at Phit-N-Phat calls it per week. Which means 1 meal a week I eat anything that I want for 1 hour. Well recently, I realized that I was kind of taking a bite here and a bite there of things that weren't on my plan AND doing a splurge meal. I think this was making me maintain my weight and not lose which is my #1 goal right now. So this last week I was 100% on target with my food. I had no BLT's (bite licks or taste) at all and so that made my splurge meal that much better. Typically I go out to eat for my splurge but I am huge fan of chips and rotel so I decided that I would make homemade beef enchiladas and rotel and I had a craving for chocolate chip cookies. So last night for dinner this is what I had. It was REALLY good! One of my best splurge meals in a long time. You know when you eat good healthy food almost all of the time you really appreciate the not so good food for you more. I would NOT want to eat that way all of the time and I do like the taste of my healthy food too but it is just not the same as some cheese dip and choc. chip cookies. So I enjoyed every last bite of it and there is none left over thank goodness. We had help from some family to finish if off if not then I was just going to take it to work. My little Chloe enjoyed it too. She usually eats like a bird most of the time but she devoured the cheese dip and chips and cookies. I guess she enjoyed Momma's splurge meal too. Next time I will get some pictures of it. Hmmm, what will I have next weekend????

Friday, August 1, 2008

So I am going 4 days in a row with my very strict menu plan I have myself on. I didn't let a little detour last night derail me. Yesterday was BIL's birthday and his choice of place to eat dinner was Olive Garden. Well, with Phit-N-Phat we are in the last week of a team challenge and I am the leader of the BOOTY BLASTER'S. We are a kick butt team I might add. 9 members strong and all of them have stayed committed and accountable. It has been great. So this weekend is the end of the challenge and I told myself I wasn't going to have a splurge meal until either Sunday night or possibly Monday or Tuesday. I just don't want my final weigh in and measurements to be tainted by a splurge meal too soon. So since I made the promise to myself and the team it was actually pretty easy to just sit and visit last night at OG. I did eat 4 pieces of my girls broccoli but that was it. I ate my 4 oz. of steak and 7 asparagus spears before I went and then while I was there I drank 3 glasses of water. The breadsticks were slightly tempting and if I let myself go I probably would have eaten about 5 of them. I just kept my mind strong and my eye on the prize and I cruised through that dinner. The family doesn't think anything about it b/c they know how I am and they know I have goals to meet so they just don't even comment about it. I do this often actually with just going out to eat and not actually eating so they are used to it.

On the exercise front I haven't been as commited as I was for the last 3 weeks. I got up early 2 days this week. Typically after 8 weeks of exercising I take a taper week where I don't do weights and just do some moderate cardio so I will consider this my taper week instead of next week. It will work out just fine.
