28 days. 4 weeks from today I will be close to DONE!
In 28 days from almost this time exactly I should be done or about done with my very first FULL MARATHON!!!
Jessica, Julie and I did the 20 miles yesterday. It was tough. I guess it is what you would think it would be. Running for 4 hours and 20 minutes is exactly what you would think...HARD. We started at 6:30 am and we ran for 1 1/2 hours then we ended up over at the start of a 10K that was on the University of Arkansas campus and we did that for 6.2 miles. The course for the 10K was VERY HILLY and I am not meaning slight inclines. There were SEVERAL hills and 1 is what I would call steep and the other 3 are more than gradual inclines. Then we finished up with a little over 1 1/2 hours left to run. All that matters is that we finished. Our legs were feeling it by the end and that was from the hills I am certain. We feel good knowing that we did it though and incorporated the hills too.
I am MUCH more sore today than usually on the day after again I am chalking that up to the hills.
No matter what though we did 20 miles and we were so proud of ourselves. I still can't believe it. The thought "I ran 20 miles yesterday, I did it, I really did" keeps running through my mind. Wow, I am just so proud of pushing myself beyond what I ever thought I could do. It is worth the pain, soreness and tiredness that is for sure.
