The day I became a "fiance" & a tattoo!

Last night J, the girls and I wrangled 4 free GOOD tickets to the Razorback game. A $100 value. WOO! Love good free stuff. Anyway, while we were there (we were sitting close to the band) and at half time a guy proposed to his girlfriend. We witnessed it and it was SO SWEET. Then I got to thinking what the date was and that 7 years ago yesterday, February 4th is when J proposed to me. I had kind of forgot about that anniversary until yesterday when I witnessed it happening again.

We had talked about marriage (we had dated 1 1/2 years at this point) and I knew we would most likely become engaged at some point but I was expecting it in that following summer. Well, he was at my duplex and we were in my room sitting on the bed. We had gone to look at rings also to get an idea of what we liked. So he had a piece of string and he said lets tie this around your finger so I can be sure I get the right size of ring and then he slid the ring down the string and onto my finger. I will NEVER forget it and how I felt at that moment. Pure JOY!! I got up and went to tell my two roomates and they were so excited for me but if I remember correctly J had already told them about it so I was slightly disappointed that I didn't get to share it with them first. This was around 10 at night I think so I waited until the next morning to go to my parents house to show them the ring and tell them the news. Well, a few days before this J had went to my Dad to ask for permission but told him not to tell my Mom and he didn't so that was fun to surprise her. Then I went to one of my good friends house Suzanne, and knocked on her door at like 8:30 in the morning to share the news with her.

I remember being on CLOUD 9 FOR DAYS!!! I was in school at the time in the Animal Science department and it is small and everyone is close so I felt like I could share it with everyone so they all knew by the end of the day that Dawn was engaged. Then 1 1/2 years later we were married and the rest is history. 2 precious girls and 5 1/2 years later we have a wonderful marriage and enjoy each other so much. Of course there are times that I could choke him BUT we all have that right. We really do have a wondeful marriage and I am thankful everyday that he came into my life. I can't imagine my life without him and I hope I don't for many years to come.

What a wonderul trip down memory lane that was all b/c the guy in the student section and the girl in the band became engaged on the same day that J and I did.
I don't think I have posted about this yet but in June while we were in Florida we got tattoos on our ring fingers. I got J's initials b/c his name is sort of long for my finger and he got my name. This is right after we got them done. WE LOVE THEM!!! We got the idea from a friend that her and her husband have this and we just fell in love with it. It stemmed from J not wearing his wedding ring very often b/c of his occupation, coach, he is constantly throwing the ball and doing sport things and it just gets in the way so we thought this would be a great way for him to show the world he is married and it never gets in the way. Well, I didn't want him to do it without me so I did it too. Just not the same if you don't both have it. I actually have a ring that I used to wear daily until it just became too big from my weight loss to stay on. I was always afraid I would lose it and it did fall off a few times. I intend to get it re-sized but I just havne't yet. But, until then I have my tattoo and I always will which is a constant reminder of the love and friendship that we share.

I love that story, how sweet. Rick and I have talked about doing the tattoos also. He can't wear his because his hands are always under hoods, and he said he really likes his finger and doesn't want to lose it. We talked about a coloed band, but I like the initials.
