13 days!!!! ICE BATH! Getting nervous!

I am shocked that I am only 13 days away from accomplishing this goal of crossing the finish line of a marathon. I truly cannot believe it is almost here but I AM SO READY TO GET IT OVER WITH!!!

I have to tell you that I am getting nervous. You know this is all a mind game and part of my mind believes that I can do it and the other part just isn't so sure. Especially now that I have this knee issue. I do know that I can always walk if I have to b/c the knee is better when I walk. I just don't have that "push off" motion like I do when I run and it doesn't seem to give me any discomfort so if worse came to worse I could always walk and I know I would finish that way. So I guess I will cross the finish line one way or the other BUT I am still nervous.

I did a 10 mile run yesterday. We had planned a 12 mile run but it was 15 degrees when we started, we had to dodge ice/snow patches b/c it snowed in Fayetteville on Saturday and then of course my knee. We just decided to call it good at 10 miles. We still had a pretty good pace and finished just over 2 hours. Like 2 hours and 3 minutes or something really close to that.

As for my knee in the beginning I just wasn't sure if I was going to make it. It was really bothering me. I have realized that I am adjusting my stride and positioning my body/legs differently to compensate for the injury and I can position my body so that it doesn't bother me as much or at all. But doing this makes the rest of my legs become more tight and sore. UGH!! Just can't win. I did make it through the 10 miles pretty well but remember I still have 16 more to go in 2 weeks.

I have a chiro appt. this afternoon and I most likely will go several more times before the race. Anything I have to do at this point to make it through SEVEN more runs then the big race.

I needed to ice my knee after I ran yesterday and since the other parts of my legs were much tighter than usual I decided that I needed to ice other parts so I just took the plunge and sat in a cold water bath tub w/ the ice I had in my ice maker. It was BAD at first and I hollered as I put each foot in then I sat down. After I got in there though it wasn't as bad. I kept my tops on to keep my upper body a little warmer and I made J stay in there and talk to me just to keep my mind on something besides the fact I was in freezing cold water up to my hips with ice in it to top it off.

I am very glad that I did it and I stayed 15 minutes. I think it really helped my legs. I will do it again if I need to. Again, whatever it takes at this point to get through!

Please continue to say a prayer for my knee, I have come too far to quit now.
